how did you break your back?

I was out at the airport with one of my stock bore drag raptors. About 6 of my buddy's and I were playing around riding wheelie's down the old runway. So Ben on his R6 made it about half way on a wheelie so then I take off on the Raptor. I started my wheelie in first clicked 2nd,3rd,4th,5th and Im gaining speed so im about 65mph and I start to go to far over. So then I tap the rear brake and it twisted the quad sideways and the quad and I cartwheeled down the pavement for 157 feet. I lost about 1 1/2 sqft of skin, fractured a bone in my hand, chipped my knee cap, broke my tail bone, and the bottom vertibrate in my back. So needless to say I wont ride without a longsleeve shirt now HAHA

From all the quads you have had, it looks like you do pretty good your self. ( MONEY ) As for building up my engine, I'm not sure I really dont know that much about them. I just enjoy riding and racing them.

yeah, there was a period of 3 years or so that i got more out of building quads than i did riding them.

i still love to work on them as well as build them. starting with my ltr i really developed a passion again for riding. i would say it was just burntout...

i have done my own motor work in the past, lately i prefer to go with people who do it everyday. i mean with my ktm i havent made the decision yet if i will do it or send it out to be done. it may simply boil down to how busy i am right now, my wife is pregnant with twins and due anytime, so that makes a big difference too.

i havent found a someone who i am comfortable with to port my 525. who knows...

I will make you a deal. You send me your head and I will port it and send it back. You try it and if you like it then you pay for the porting. And if you dont like it you dont have to pay!

that is quite a generous offer. if you port my head then i pay for it no questions asked; regardless if i like it or not...

tell me more about your porting. how long have you been doing it? how long have you been porting ktm heads? do you use a flow bench? if so what kind of numbers are you getting out of your ktm heads? what type of porting do you recommend? i know that last one is an open ended question based on my type of riding...

thanks again for your generous offer, and i do look forward to your response...

Well I have been porting for about 20 years. Yes I have a flow bench. And sorry but I dont post bench #s its the easiest way to get you in a forum war, because somebody else got this and that. If you dont do it the same day same bench and everything else down to the nats azz your just blowing hot air.

I have ported world class hotsaws for people all around the world, I ported the Rocket Factory drag bikes for the first year and then they started porting there own in house. My black YFZ is a 502 14-1, +2 valves, 44mm lectron, hotcams stage 2, and it pulled 68.5 hp and 41 ftlbs on the Rocket Factory dyno. I also ported The black 804 raptor for a RF customer and it dynoed 82hp and 72.5 ftlbs.

You guys might know from other forums as Sparky YFZ, and my old shop Sand Demon Motorsports.

mike, you have said enough; i appreciate all your straight forward answers.

i would like to get some hard numbers from you for what it will cost me to get some things done... for the most part i have finalized my build plan and i will run those ideas by you when we talk. i look forward to your input as nothing is set in stone.

i will send you a pm with my build plans...

My saying is. "You only live once, unless you have a really good surgeon!" As for me, I'm working on my 2nd life.
