Patrickj75 put on a honda thumb you can just unplug the thottle over ride switch. That is what we did to Chads.
Patrickj75 that did not work sorry.
we took the switch out and move it by the start switch. All you have to do is push the in let it out and it will start and it makes a complete cuirct and runs fine. Just remenber to push the switch to start.
We need some people to mod the existing throttle and come up with a trick to make it work easier. This weekend I plan to see if I can cut out part of the spring or replace with a smaller gage spring, I'm also planning to try and heat and bend the last inch of the thumb throttle so it parallel to the grip. I'll post pics if it works.
i just ordered a spring from toyko mod its a spring for the fcr carb and is suspose to make it less stiff it cost 29.95 usd the company is located in ca so its going to take a few days for it to get here then it will take longer to get it on due to my work schedule but i give a review what i get time to try it out
I have done this to every quad I have owned. if you take the thumb throttle apart you will see how the linkage goes together. where the thumb part sits inside the linkage arm is shape like a square. If you take a file and file down the oppisite sides the thumb part will move forward and the grip will not be as big. When you tighten it back up there will be no slack and will work fine. Also you can put a 06 or newer honda thunb throttle on and use the tps that is with it.
sounds good. I ordered one myself. Think I'll still try and bend the stock thumb throttle so its sits closer to the grip, really hoping the spring is going to work because the quad is crazy fun for the first 300 yrds but after that the pain in the thumb takes over.
I got my spring today and will install it tomorrow or Saturday. I'd like to try and find someway to measure the amount of lbs it takes to push it, I have a scale to weigh food, I'll try that and post results.
I won a honda thumb throttle with tps on ebay this week and should get it tomorrow. If I do I will put it on this weekend and see if it helps. My problem isn't the stiffness of the throttle but its position at part or no throttle opening. It is pointed straight out and is not a comfortable reach.
