Travis gave me these instructions on setting Squish for 570BB: Thought I would pass them on...

Squish is the distance between the top outer edge of the piston and the combustion chamber.

  1. I lock the crank at TDC then lay 2 pieces of soft solder about 1" long along the the outer edge of the piston directly over the wrist pin.
  2. Then install the head and torque the head bolts this will squish the "solder" remove the head and measure the thickness of the solder. this will tell you what the squish is and then you can adjust using diferent thicknesses of base gaskets.
  3. You want .045 to .050" squish.
