I can't believe im buying a ktm soon. Sounds to me that they built them self basically a fast china quad. All i here is bad about them other than their shocks handling good and a fast engine that always breaks down. I would go after ktm and make some money. If they build somthing unsafe and you get hurt cause of it you can sue them. I see stuff on tv now about the yamaha rhino. If you crashed and got hurt from the rhino not having doors on it you can sue.

first of all, stfu, the KTM has a very good motor, if you dont maintaqin a 4-stroke 450 it will have problems, also, a defective shock, not made by KTM, is not their fault, Ohlins built the shock, and dont try to tell me they dont make an amazing product, a single defective rear shock(this is the only one ive seen) does not mean that the whole bike is crap, these are incredibly high performance machines in stock form, slight modifications turn it into a true threat on the track.

After few mods I'm pretty happy with mine ..... it should have come in little better shape for the $$$ Hopefully they will back the stuff that's failing. I got mine strickly for the dunes, I think a 2nd choice for me would have been a 700 raptor and stuck about 3k in it.

had a raptor 700 there is no contest KTM is a far better quad. Don't get me wrong I loved my raptor but poured about 5k in it to equal my 525. It is the first year quad sure it will have some bugs. There are other quads out there that have been around for many years with the same bugs Ktm will get it straight.

I agree and I wish that had not happen to you or anyone else my reply wasn't to take away from your accident I believe you should have been in touch with whoever to make something happen. My post was for everyone bashing KTM, there are always issues with first and even second year bikes, they were made to race and I don't care how well they are built if you race them you are going to have failures, most of the time more than once. I wish you speedy recovery and hope you stay riding its hard to get back on with "what coulda" in the back of your mind.

Sue sue sue, It's not my fault for going to fast in my rhino. I don't ever do a pre-ride check over and notice things coming loose, so I better sue. If it came apart just going down the road then it was coming apart before hand. This is a lack of your maintenance, not Ktm's. Things will loosen up under normal use, oil will get dirty and air filters will need to be cleaned. It's unfortunate that you got injured learning this lesson. But it's your lesson not Ktm's.

I'd say that be true for a lot of parts but a shock? I really doubt he would have found anything even with a full inspection. I only wonder if he had reduced all the preload trying to get it to ride a little lower. If it was in its stock position it was just very bad luck. or faulty

I've never been on a quad when it has had a catastrophic failure of a suspension part!!! I don't think I am qualified to judge how someone should react to something they trust to stay together, coming apart at speed!!! It is not a routine maintenance issue. Hopefully, it is just a one-time thing, not a batch of bad parts out in the public. Speedy recovery to you, and consider yourself lucky to live in a country that has universal healthcare.
