Does anyone else have problems shifting into neutral on the 525 XC? I'm wondering if it is just my particular machine or if it is a widespread problem. I've been thinking that it may be a matter of breaking in the motor. It has gotten a little better after 7 hrs. but it is still a problem, and I may have just gotten better with my technique (put it in 2nd and lightly tap down, repeat several times until you get the green light).

hey i have a bastard time trying to find neutral and i heard its pretty commmon. i almost cant get neutral with engine going but turn it off and use my hand and it engages pretty easly. my bikes got 15 hours on it and cant say its getting any better. ive heard changing the engine oil can help a bit but again nothing permanent.

If it is hard with the engine running and then you turn off the engine and it is easier then it is clutch drag/adjustment related...I know these hydraulic clutches need bleeding and you may have air in the system, will check the manual and see what turns up...
Bronson what does the Repair Manual say about the Magura Clutch? Would they have Troubleshooting shifting the Tranny to neutral in the repair manual...email me a copy and I'll take a look for you
...
The clutches may need bleeding (From the factory we are seeing other issues also...correct?) I think there is a procedure to bleed the air from the hydraulic clutch in the Owners Manual...that could be you all's problem...my LTZ470 gets a little antsy sometime about neutral and I have to adjust the clutch tighter a couple of clicks to make it easier....

Honestly I think it is a good thing, I have the same problem.. How many of you on diiferent machines have just been shifting from 1st to 2nd and hit neutral on accident, it sucks and sometimes it hurts.. I hate that I basically have to shut the machine off to get it in neutral but it makes sense from a racing aspect....

It could be due to the size of the indent on the shift drum, they probably made it small to stop mis shifts, but in turn it also makes it hard to find. Cannondales had this problem too.
Yeah, I was thinking it might be a problem with the shifting star. I can see them wanting to engineer out missed shifts, but then again I never miss a shift with my LTR 450 and I can still easily find neutral. I might try bleeding the clutch or maybe even replacing the shifting star (since others don't seem to have the problem).
