Well, last weekend at our race, it was a mud fest to say the least. Im talkin, so much mud on my helmet, i struggled to keep my head up. Anyway, some how my motor took in quite a bit of dirt and mud. Got around the air filter, or my intake popped off the carb, im not sure witch but the damage was done.
Now idk y, but ktm routed the crank case breather tube into the carb. Bad idea, i think. My air filter was so clogged that the carb started sucking from the breather tube and spitting oil into the carb. Thus mixing with the dirt/mud, and seriously gumming up my carb.
FIX: Im blocking off where the hose went into the carb, and getting a longer hose for the crank case breather tube to route it somewhere out of the way (not sure where yet) and picking up a tiny filter to put in the end of the tube.
Many pro racers do this. Usually the breather tube goes into the air box, and has been known to spit oil all over the air filter. So they use the same remedy.
