if i can ever get my damn quad back together, i need to buy one of these to dyno against the stock twinair foam filter...

i know the cloth k&n flows good... but when you cut down the filter surface area by that much, i dont see how you can make anymore power than the stock?

maybe it is just me, but i am skeptical...

I'll get a depth on the pleats in the filter and try to calculate the surface area compared to the Twin Air Bronson....

After running calculations there is almost 3X's more surface area on the KT-5201 K&N Filter as compared to the stock Twin Air Filter...
120 sq in on the Twin Air giving it the benefit of a doubt rounding up the tape measure
364 sq in on the K&N - the 1" deep pleats in the K&N really give it a lot of surface area (70 Pleats around the outer circumference that are 1" deep - the top pleats are only 1/2" deep with a small surface area but it still calculates almost as much as the Twin Air just on the small top due to the 1/2" deep pleats - a lot more area than meets the eye so to speak...

Fit right on with no mods just follow directions and use plenty of grease around the sealing lips...checked mine again after Glamis and no sealing problems whatsover, still great even after all the abuse....Outerwears has a Prefilter...
I'm thinking about getting the K&N filter, I'm wondering if you felt any performance gains over the stock Twin Air? Did you have to rejet the carburator? Thanks.

JD Jet on the 39mm Stocker never a problem even before i jetted....HP gains? I don't they run so good already...The HMF Full System gave some over rev...the K&N, a 13T front sprocket and some sand dunes = pure unadulterated fun

I just finished installing my new K&N filter, I will tell you this filter is not meant for the atv, so the bottom bracket must be disgaurded because it absolutely does not fit and "jamming" it in is not going to be the answer like some people have done. I used the k&n sealant and self tapping screws (5) I put sealant between the rubber boot and the middle mounting bracket and and spread my 5 screws around the edge of the bracket and into the hard rubber seam of the boot. This created a great seal and then I just greased the filter bottom and mounted with the k&n provided screw. An alternate way would be to bore the top of the filter hole just a little and use the stock filter strap for double safety. I used the provided screw because it hase a rubber grommet on the bottom of it. Once mounted it is pretty easy to revert back to foam if you want but I am extremely happy to get rid of that crap, riding in the sand you have to clean it almost after every ride.
