My friend just picked up his new 525 and we took it to the dunes last weekend. It was popping a lot on deccelaration. The dealer had supposedly jetted the bike already. Elevation is about 500 feet in the DFW area. Any jetting recomendations? Nice site btw!

All the 525's do the same thing. Not sure how they are jetted from the factory, but it seems like they could be a little more on. Your best bet for jetting is getting it on a dyno with an AFR meter. Look for a shop in your area. It will not only help your bike run stronger, but optimize fuel consumption and reliability also.

send a pm to mcracer. he has had his quad for a while and i am sure has the jetting down for our area.

if you are up for the ultimate tune you can go see scott crawford @ cycle werkz in fort worth. they have a awesome dyno there, with all the bells & whistles. he cut a custom map for my ltr, i highly recommend him. infact i may take my ktm over to him to put the 540 kit on it as well as tune/dyno it. i hung out over there while he did my ltr and took videos... i learned more than i could ever want to know about the entire process!

Not sure if this will help but my Mechanic had the same problem with my son's KTM 450xc. What he told me was we had a header leak causing all the back fire and popping. He sealed it with high temp sealant and runs great.
We are running JD's jet ket. From what I can tell it is there own needle with Keihin main jets. The other thing to look into is getting a different carb bowl. These stock carb do not have what they call a leak jet un-like other 450 FCR carbs. Go to HMF web site for info about mod to bowl or go to JD's Jetting web site to purchase jet kit and new carb bowl.
Very happy with JD' Jetting kit.
Back in January when I was home in Oklahoma we was running a 175 main jet.

I believe stock main Jet is a 180...

Hope this helps you some.

Currently working in Afghanistan so hopeful my 14yrs old son can take care of the jetting.

I do have a question for everyone, has anybody used a dial jet for these FCR carbs because Changing main jets on KTM you have to raise the fuel tank to turn the carb....

Thanks for your help...
