of those of you new to the FCR carb, JD jetting is an acknowledged gurru in FCR setup

JD jetting

They've had the 525 on there dyno and there special needle and jet kits are ready to go.

dyno time

JD's recommended specs with there special red needle is:

Try running the following-
#42 pilot jet
1 3/4 turns out
Red marked needle in the #5 from top clip position
#175 main jet
Thicker O-ring installed on the accelerator pump linkage

The JD needle puts in more fuel on the low end, not unusual to be one size smaller on the idle.
O ring is a special trick for the squirter, details are in the kit.

I'm running that R&D power bowl as well as the JD jet kit

Good products.
James Dean (JD) knows his way around an FCR carb better than anyone.
I Just got the 525xc and stock it just ran bad, cut-0ut, backfired.... I installed the JD jet kit and it was 100% better. I also ordered a powerbowl. I'm not sure if I even need the power bowl at this point because the JD kit did so much already. Imo the JD kit is a must for the 525 xc and with 450xc being same bike I'm sure it do the same for it. Only complaint I have now is the throttle and its a pain to get in neutral while running. I am getting better at getting it in neutral by going into 2nd and tapping down very lightly, the old way of going from 1st to neutral just doesn't seem to work. So if anyone else has same problem try 2nd and down with a light tap and let me know how that works for ya.
Can anybody tell me if this kit will work also for the 450xc. I also have the same problem going into neutral.
450 = yes

JD jet kit won't help with neutral, but it will help the quad run a lot better. Far as getting it into neutral try my trick of going from 2nd down with a light tap. Jd jet kit is a must to get your quad to run a lot smoother, should cost between $70 and $75. If your not familiar with jetting your best to have your dealer install it for ya so they can get it properly adjusted for ya.
Thanks for the info. Ill have to get that kit. And also try the 2nd to neutral
I just installed jd jet kit in my 525.... starts better and runs smoother!!!! running it with the baffles out and the engine map up and it is silly fast as you all know.. My question is does everyone else have popping on the decel.. its not bad but it kinda bothers me.. it seems it has a small exhaust leak at the header but after it gets warm it gets better.. is this mabye why its popping??
I got the same popping

Annoying as hell
My 525 did the same thing after the jd install!! Where the manifold bolts to the head its only welded in to spots and they are sucking in air!! My mechanic welded mine all the way around and put hi temp silicone on the head pipe and no more popping!! Check Your Heads!!!!
hey guys sweet site ! as far as jd jet kits go. i took out the jets on my banshee and cleaned them. first time ive eveer done that before.and it ran fine after so would it be that hard to do on the 525 xc?

no the JD jets are the shit. I helped Jim on the YFZ jet kits back in 04. It is not a matter of cleaning what you have it is incorrectly jetted from the factory in order to get past the 'merican emission standards.
