Ignition map: unplugged it hauls now !

Took the 450 for a quick run with the map unplugged, NOW WE ARE TALKING, rev out is sharp and crisp now, alot snappier and responsive where it was flat and lack lustre before. Has a crackle to the exhaust like by fully modded Yamaha's

If you haven't unplugged the CDI brown/white wire to get the power map, do it now and be impressed !

Picture below is the KTM switch unit, costs $29 that hooks up into the brown white wiring plug

Craig, can you put up a pic of the wires we are looking for.
see the CDI map thread. single white tube type wire joint below the CDI pack : unplug and your good to go.
yea i was pretty impressed with the increase in performance by just unpluging a wire, on the 525 youd better been hittin the gym it will wear you out hangin on LOL
so is this just for an aftermarket cdi or a stock one????
It is for the stock ignition. Ktm Shipped them with a detuned map to pass stricter emission standards. Its kinda like the cherry bomb for the ltr except there isnt a 30 dollar unit to buy.
ok yea its in the owners manual pg 57,, so u just hook a switch to the wire and u can control it while driving??

I saw where KBR dyno'ed with the wire unplugged and they lost Hp? I didn't even mess with unplugging it. I guess I'll give it a try....

I added the switch and I must say I never noticed the difference. I also revved up the motor and held it in a set position and turned the switch on and off and never heard any changes in the motor. I like the power it has so I left it in the off position. I first heard people liked it stock for tight area's and unplugged in open area's. I'd say, save money and just unplug it and don't worry about buying the switch. I'm thinking this .... and your welcome to correct me if I'm wrong.
Quad ran like crap at 1st so that was your 1st experience. You went out and got the jd-jet kit and unplugged the mapping switch and you unleashed a monster. When really it was just the JD jet kit that did all the work. This was my experience and when i flipped back and forth with the switch I didn't notice anything .... imo

hmmmm intersting
I think voodoomagic has hit it square on the head. That is exactly what i did.
I'm with voodoo.
Bike is still basically stock on the engine side of life. Put the mapping switch on & feel that there is bugger all change in the engine performance between the two modes.
