Well guys, I'm just wondering how much interest there is out there for a carbon fiber heatshield for the carb? It would bolt up behind the head where there is an existing hole. It will basically shield away heat from the carb coming from the closely routed exhaust pipe.

I have an aluminum prototype that I made up this after noon, if there is interest out there I will put it into production and you can expect a finished product somewhere around the 1st of the year in 09.

Thanks, Jay

I think the idea is an interesting one, but I am wondering how much does heat really play a role in the carb functions and the resulting performance?

Keeping the fuel cool is huge. I just got back from working with Warnert/Factory Can Am, and they use everything possible to keep heat from the carb and fuel tank. I asked them the same question, and they stand by the heatshields all the way.

I also run the heat tile on the bottom of my tank.
