is there any new law prohibiting the manufacturers from using 2-strokes in atv's? i know yamaha has moved away from the blaster and banshee, but bikes and snowmobiles still use 2-strokes. if there are no laws, ktm should use their 300 2-stroke engine and come up with a new gear box more suited for atvs. it would be a hit with the 2-stroke fans out there, and would probably be a good seller.

The EPA wont let large ATV manufactures build new atv's with 2 strokes. The only way around this would be a VERY small atv company to build a 2 stroke model. The EPA laws have a loop hole of some sort in them for this. But by now they might have changed the laws because money makes the world go round or the politition stand behind what pays the best.
they asked that in the KTM survey, what engine do you want, 250 2 stroke, 300 2 stroke, 450 4 stroke, 525, or a 600 4-stroke

I read motocross magazines and KTM is one of the few manufactures dedicated to two strokes. They're still doing R&D on two strokes and their sales are up. At this point, if anyone were going to make a two stroke atv it would be them.
the shee is still alive and screaming in Canada, maybe they would have a better chance getting one approved up here then moving south
