I've bought a 2008 Polaris Outlaw 525 IRS atv, and it has a lot of mechanical engine noise. A lot of clatter-type engine noise at idle until the clutch lever is pulled in. Most of the noise goes away when the clutch lever is pulled in.
I hear that the KTM engine is a noisy engine, but not having heard a new engine, or one that is in excellent condition, I don't know "how noisey" a stock, good condition, typical engine is, and therefore can't judge if mine is normal or not.
If my clatter isn't normal, what are the causes I may need to explore?
Thanks!

Hi

not many option heres. you have to check the primary nut on the right side of your case, to see if it loosen. If not, can be the woodruff key in the primary gear, who is in bad shape and make the primary gear have some play(happen to me). i had a similar issue, knocking noise at idle, but not when reving the engine.

It's normal to have the noise that goes away when pulling in the clutch. Other than that the most common noise is from that nut coming loose referenced above.
