I was just trying to be funny. I don't think I could bring myself to use either rod on this crank.

Oh man this is making me think about dumping money back in my 525mxer to turn it into a full time dune machine! Make the 505 more potent or build the 525 to the moon? Terrible decision to have to make haha.
    Mine:
    2017 Husky FX 450
    2009 505 SX
    2008 525 XC-modded for mx (currently 450 cylinder)
    Dad's:
    2009 450 SX
    2008 540 XC

From a drag race standpoint I would go out on a limb and say that crank rod combo would be the holy grail

How many CC's could you get with this crank assuming you used the 129mm rod? Might have to buy a used engine to get it built up. I wanna go fast!

This might be a real stupid ? How does one go about finding TDC after doing a rebuild and installing the new crank. I am assuming it does not have a notch for the bolt to lock the crank like a factory crank. Or am I wrong?

I've been running the 104 mm x 78 stroke for 2 dune seasons (662 cc) . torque to the moon and rev's as fast as any 450 , I'd do it again in a heart beat . I will mention I had to o ring the head use arp studs and 8mm helicoiled head bolt's to keep the head gasket from leaking . made 73 hp 53 tq (pump gas) oh did I mention it rev's like a 450 . the crank bearings have held so far but they are about $300 a set . my 600 stroker went through 2 sets in 2 years , I then went with travis's shimmmed cases with better bearings haven't had a problem with them yet 1 season . I wish I had the billet stroker crank option then , It would be nice to not wonder is this the ride the crank spreds and the bearings go !!

Tparsley, what cylinder did you start with. I am very close to sending my engine to travis to get built and my heart goes pitter patter just thinking about it as what you have is my 613 plus 10 hp. Thats 15% more power and even a bigger tq gain. I have spread the bearings on my 613 twice and this billet crank has arrived just as I was about to shelve the stroker.

Ceramic bearings seemed to be holding up. Travis said he was going back to roller ones though says they hold up better. I'm gonna goto billet As soon as mine goes. mikebell has went threw a bunch of stroker cranks and bearing and cases. He's never used ceramic bearings that I know of.

The benefit of ceramic bearings is less friction not so much for endurance. Doing the whole engine in ceramic is expensive but at the same time you would want use isotropic finish on the trans. It is all very expensive and I would only use it for a trailer queen not a daily dune bike. Also with ceramic it's all or nothing for least rotating resistance.

treat the cause (spreading crank)........... rather than trying to hold it with various bearing setups, that just moving the primary problem elsewhere........
