before and after dyno runs, 525 with FCI and pipe vs full LED 554 build

    This a dyno run of a KTM 525 / 554

Green line indicates stock 525 motor with slip on pipe and Fuel Customs intake.

Blue line indicates LED custom hand made intake, custom ported head, with +1 exhaust valves, +2 intake valves, custom built exhaust, LED custom 99mm piston 13:1 compression piston kit, web cam 820/821 cam, LED bored 43 1/2mm carburetor

52 hp vs 69 hp, same engine, same dyno…….

my 554 laid down 68 hp / 44 ft lbs, its a brute to ride, mega torque push and with the ultra lite crank and flywheel it responds real fast, nudges the limiter real damn quick…… and very deceptive…… once you have cooked a few turns you realize how damn fast these engines are pushing you ……

you will need to talk with arlan, his heads are more expensive than others; this reflects the amount of work and high end components he puts in. His heads perform thats for sure.

I dont want to be negative but LED is known to have the highest reading dyno in the area. His bikes do run good but he isnt doing anything that various other builders cant accomplish also.

This wasn't dynoed on LED's dyno.
It is a dyno in New Zealand at PBMS Motorsport. I have used the same dyno for my 719 Raptor.
We generally find that NZ dynos give lower readings than what you would get stateside.

That bike of Craigs is very strong, can't wait to be able to run the rebuilt raptor against it. I weigh 25-30kg more than Craig, so it should be an interesting matchup!

Has anyone dynoed their other wise stock 525 with an FCI and a slip on? To compare to the numbers here, that would probably solve alot of the confusion

There's more to it then just knowing what the bike made beforehand. There is a ton of variables when working with dynos. Almost all of the engine builders will tell you don't build a motor to make a dyno number unless the only place its gonna run is a dyno. Remember the led built 540 a member here had that made upper 60's on arlans dyno? It was only two bike lengths behind my badwin head thumper 540 which wouldn't have broken over 60hp at OCP

I was just looking to compare what his dyno was measuring versus others. I always thought that his dyno read way high from previous posts

What Im saying is dynos use a correction factor to try and make all dynos read the same regardless of atmospheric conditions or location. Its a great idea and works pretty well. The only problem with this is that it is user adjustable. You can run a bike for a baseline and make absolutely no changes other then opening a drop down menu and sliding a bar across the screen. your numbers can go up or down to whatever you want them to be. For all we know the two runs shown on the chart could have been 20 seconds apart. I have ran an automotive dyno many times in the past and did this first hand just to prove the point. Numbers are just numbers.

Craigs 554 chart from PBMS is very similar for the built run.
Found a decent chain for it yet Craig (he broke the near new CZ stock chain a few weeks ago
