The quad is a 2009. My mistake on the title.
I had the axle nut come loose and throw the chain into the cases. Anyone have leads for an aluminum welder that’s very good? I’ll post a picture when I get home.
Don’t know much about the SX, what’s in behind that? Looks like a cover of some sort, if a bearing or anything else that is sensitive to true/clearnence it can not be welded period to my knowledge. I would send a picture to thumper racing and see what they think. If you fix this make sure you get a good aftermarket axle nut, put plenty of light/medium duty loctite on it, and buy the special wrench and torque it to spec. I do all that AND safety wire mine.

Looks like it took out the cover for the high pressure oil pump that feeds the top end of the motor. If the case behind it isn't damaged you should be able to get a new cover, oil pump rotor set, and possibly the shaft that drives the oil pumps (3 pumps run off of that shaft). That pump is sensitive enough that it's recommended to measure the depth of the pocket in the cover, the thickness of the pump rotor, and match them exactly by either sanding the rotor or the cover mating surface. So I wouldn't try to just weld it or you risk starving your engine of oil. I'd be replacing all the pump rotor sets while it's apart. They're about $30 each if I remember right and I've seen them crack before.
