    505 sx CDI

    hi,

    i'm so mad................i just fried my CDI...................dam it
    i have the 2010 KTM Atv 505 SX

    I'm wondering now,should i buy the original CDI or should i go for another brand?
    I'm just saying,i do not want to sped a fortune like 500-600 $...............with this rebuild i'm kind of broke now and this thing with the CDI is way too much

    just like flooringit said i have a vertex one for sale for $350 plus shipping they retail for $600 plus shipping. This CDI only has 8 hour on it and is like new.

    Where are you located? It will fit in a small package. Can have it shipped for $365-370 in the US and $380-390 to Europe.

    how did you fry your stock CDI ?

    that unit is a stock OEM type

    probably just the 450 dirt bike CDI……….. or it has been reflashed, any translation on what the german text is saying ???

    If you need a CDI just get a 450 SXF dirtbike unit, decent upgrade and pretty cheap….

    In just 2 minutes it takes for your changing the CDI, you get 400 rev / min speed limit more and more power over the entire speed range. By the modified map, the performance is optimized and then should your Super Plus or better tanking. Another advantage we have removed the safety circuit for the thumb throttle.     well,i rebuild my bike and i did some wiring wrong(now it is solved but form this and from the fact that the spark has no plugs i thought the cdi is gone or fired)
    now i see that the plug has no spark and i checked everything(TPS,clutch sensor................all sensors are fine)and still no spark................everything else is fine(lights,the starter motor is spinning.............ect)
    i also checked the pulse before the coil(plug coil)and on in it has no electrical impulse....................so the plug has no spark to get

    last night i tried my cdi on a different bike and surprise,it works fine(also tried the other bike cdi on mine,still no spark)..............so it is not the cdi fault........................i'm lost

    my logic has one more option..............tonight i will try all the wires under tension and see if maybe one is busted under tension(because i checked them free and they are ok)

    i'm truly lost..................standing there and looking at this beautiful bike and cant use it.............................

    if you have some ideas will be useful.................
    if i can solve it by the week end i'm BURNING this wiring and buying a new one..........................until now i see the wiring on this things is simple(compare it wiht suzuki ltr)but low quality(the wires brake easy.............etc)

    ps:i have the wiring diagram and pretty much checked all sensors

    yes craig it is expensive...............bun is from Germany,so it will be at my house in a few days.................if i order the wortex one will be more expensive and the shipping will be 3-4 weeks.....................so the Eu one was a better choice

    but,like i said it is not CDI fault..........................and to be onest i do not know what the problem is.....................truly lost here

    its your TOR (throttle Over Ride) safety system cutting the spark.

    try loosening the throttle cable on the thumb throttle unit and see if you get spark check cable is not snagged and puled slightly somewhere, that will do it

    try dropping the slide height, black screw on the side of the carb and see if you get spark

    did you move / alter the TPS unit on the side of the carb, these are super sensitive……..

    i bought a new thumb throttle with new wires and stuff,never noticed the acceleration wire was way too tight....................i guess all your life you are learning new stuff
