    Paddle Tire Size Question

Will a Skat Trak Edge 21x12-8 fit with KTM big nerf bars? I don't know how much those will balloon up and if they would hit. Everyone told me that 20x10-8 would work in a previous thread so I was just wondering about this size. Does anyone have pictures of a 21x12-8 mounted on their bike. I ordered my rims already (Douglas G2 rolled lip 8x8 black), just can't decide on the tire. It seems half the people on here like Edge and the other half like the Extreme's straight paddle.

Back in the day, +20 years ago, I ran 20x10-10 8 paddle Edges on my Honda 350X 3-wheeler. It was bored and stroked to a 425 and the tires were great. Front end happy a lot though I will probably run 7 paddles on my KTM after reading through all the posts on here.

    Thanks.

P.S. I wish there was a sand paddle thread sticky with what everyone runs with pictures, pros & cons, etc.....

I ran 21x12x8 on some 8x8 beadlocks and one side would barely touch the nerf, just made the aluminum a little black.

Not sure if the 21's would work with the ktm big nerfs but they look like they would work with the stock SX heal guards and nerfs. Even fully expanded going WOT.

You may have to take some measurements and talk to the guys at Fullerton Sand Sports.

Edge is great for duning and side hilling. These engines do not have enough power to spin the extremes like they are designed to be spun.If you are making over 65WHP the extremes work well, anything less than that and they are just putting extra stress on your motor and not being used to their potential.Slowing you down actually. Haulers work much better for duning and hill shooting on our quads if you want to go the straight paddle route.Gliders work best for hill shooting as the paddles are not as tall and stiff so the motor spins to max rpm easier and the quad makes more top speed up the hill.

7 paddle setup will work great with edge, hauler and glider.I run a 8 paddle edge as of now and it works just fine(wheelies in 5th!) but may try a 7 paddle setup to compare.

How did you like those? Are they really bulged out since it's a 12 wide on an 8 rim? More round than flat on the contact surface? Got any pics?

    This was for csunderwood.

I think I actually found a picture of your bike with the 20x10-8.
My motor is stock, stock exhaust (for now). So seven paddle for sure.
I do have my stock heel guards that I could put on for dune riding.
In your experience should I go with 20x10-8 edges (nerf bars) or 21x12-8 edges (stock heel guards) for my stock bike?

I really like them,no complaints at all.But to be honest I would probably buy the 7 paddle setup if I were doing it all over again.Especially if the engine was stock. They are 20x10x8's. I think the 12's would be too wide for a 8'' wide wheel. No need for more footprint IMO.Also the 10's are lighter..no need for 21's unless it's gonna be drag only setup. The 20's will turn better and keep the quad's center of gravity low.

They hook up really well, it rounds out the paddle on the narrower rim so you get more wheel spin. I don't have any pics, I munched those nerfs on a big rock and switched to DG nerfs.

Thanks for the info and pics!
My quad looks like yours.........all white
My 350X was all white and liked it, that's why when I got my KTM two months ago I ordered all white plastic to go on it.
I have BIG pics of it in my album. They make for a good computer background

What grab bar is on your bike? Like it?

    White is nice for sure

The grab bar is from KTM powerparts.Comes with a number plate and a flag mount location. No need to cut the fender to access the OEM flag mount.

I've heard it's been discontinued (from KTM dealer) and that's why it's not in the 2012 Powerparts catalog.

I run the scat trak 24" extremes in 8 paddle. For me on the Oregon dunes with the 570 they work great. I have no problem spinning them, they have good float and keep me up on top. One thing you will find with paddles is 10 people will have 10 opinions. Different sand, different power, type of riding......... I know alot of people are surprised on how well the 24" paddles hill climb. Got to have +4 or 6 to make it work.

I'm runnning 20X11X9 Extremes and seem to work good, all depends on how much air you have in them to make them spin. Like them way better then my V-paddles that I had before and have no problems turning but I have Mohawks on the front.

I am looking at 24 x12 x 10 10 paddle gliders for my old Predator drag bike but 22" 7paddle SLS haulers works good for hill drags.

24's are kind of are kind of new. A bit heavier than say a 22 hauler but gives you the roll out. I think the 22 is 72 roll out and the 24 is 74-78. the 24's are on 10" wheels only while you can run 22-8 7 wide wheel on thw 22's and balloon the tire some (taller) Unless you are a hill racer none of this matters but big tires with shorter gliders and more paddles give you hill speed according to HP/RPM

Today I ordered Skat Trak Edge 20-10x8 7 paddles. I'm STILL waiting for my back-ordered rims!
    Thanks.
