    To lower XC seat

Ok, so what do I need to lower this seat on my 450xc? Just buy a SX seat? And if I buy a SX seat, how much will it lower it? Anybody try just cutting the foam? Just need options........

I run a SX seat. I'd say it's close to 1" lower. I have both seats so I can Check tonight if you need. You can also use a 2010 SX subframe, they are a little lower.

If you can check, that would be great. It just feels like Im sitting too high on the quad. I had my shocks re worked and that helped greatly. Just need it a little lower.

quadtech also sells the foam along with the covers. it is a little stiffer, so for mx guys it is great, so your but doesnt get hit by the plastic side piece. maybe softer is better for xc guys though. just a thought.

the only remedy is the quadtech, fourwerx, or jettrim seat covers as far as i know. the new qt seats have rubber there instead of vinyl.

Ok, so if I buy just the foam/seat cover from Quadtech thats for a SX, will it lower the XC seat? Or do I have to buy the SX seat, then the quadtech cover and foam?

Fourwerx offers a kevlar option for the side panels on the seat cover, in the picture above the black side section on my seat cover is kevlar. It has held up all year.

I measured it last night. It is about 7/8-1" lower

I'm not sure what air filter set up you are running but using the SX seat will also let you run a OEM SX intake and the 2010 intake stiffener. This eliminates intake collapse on hot days and was good for 1hp gain on my motor over the XC intake.

ddi you get the shorter rear eyelet on the back shock ? did you go for the dual rate spring setup. This combo drops the rear ride height a good couple of inches and is a must for good handling.

I presume you have rotated the rear axle carrier, this takes out about 1 inch also.

A single rate spring is always a compromise at best.............. I can get my xc's ride height down in the weeds if I want no problems with my zps setup.

there is a trick to keeping the sx seat cover from ripping.... I cut about an 1.5" of the corner of the seat where it tears with a set of metal snips, sanded it down till it was smooth, then leave that foam hand down over that part to protect the seat cover from rubbing on the plastic and re staple.

I was going through seat covers every 3-4 weeks last year. I did that this year and my seat cover lasted all year and still looks new. I'm getting ready to do my buddies seat I'll try to take pictures and post a thread with what i'm talking about.

I turned my carrier over to lower my ride height when i ran some flat track but never for mx... does anyone do this for mx??? I don't think there's any benefit to do this for mx when I can get my rear plenty low by adjusting the springs and crossover on my shock???

I run mine that way, rotated rear, maintains wheel travel, going to change over to an XC swinger to further amplify the effect (more wheel travel for any given ride height)
