I ride in the dunes at night a lot...and the stock KTM lights are terrible...

Which aftermarket HID (or other) lighting system is the best bang for the buck?

I'm looking for something plug n play.

    Thanks

I first bought the trail tech hid lights, which were okay but i wanted more. So i bought the stock hid replacement from here, clicky , decent price. Once i turn on the stock hid replacement you cant even tell my 2 trail tech lights are on. I would start off with the hid replacement and if that isnt enough then try baja designs they make a handle bar mounted light hoop that holds 2 of there 4 inch hid's. dont waste ur money on the trail tech's. JMO.

This is my setup that has worked very well over the last year and a half, I have 2 Kragen 4" HID $100 a piece Baja Designs bracket $35 and another aluminum bracket $9 from Baja Designs also where the lights actually sit on. In between the two brackets I put 2 1/2" rubber bushings for cushion, all this ran me about $280 w/tax out the door. All I did was wire them into the fusebox since I believe you have 2 spares. I also have a bike led helmet light so with all this I have more than enough light. Only advice I can give is, mount them to your habdle bars. The light output will be alot better than mounting them down by your front bumper. It really depends on how much you want to spend, can't go wrong with Baja Designs though.

I picked up the PMXTEC upgrade. It is all the light I need for fast night trail riding. I promise you you will not be disappointed for the money spent.

Still working on getting night shots. Once the riding season comes I'll get them.

I ride nothing but glamis and pismo... I have the above mentioned Eagle Eye kit that alpine sand toys sells. Best $110 I've ever spent.

I'm sure that dual 4" setup ktmchris has is brighter... but for using the stock housing, the Eagle Eye works great!

i made a kit to switch to hid, if your fairly handy, search hid you will find what i did...

the h7 upgrade is prolly good too, but with their adaptor you could even switch to h7 hid and have hi-lo function...

built 400 ex 461, all done up, sleeeeper. 47hp, 32lb/ft... sold

450xc, baldwin head w/Ti valves... motoworks full system... never done...
i may ask a lot questions, but i also know some things.
i dont capitalize, or punctuate or use spell check, but i will joke sometimes about spellcheck

I did the Eagle Eye thing too. Works great! I thought my Can Am Renegade projector lights were bright, now they look like junk compared to the single HID on KTM.

You don't need high beam with the HID. They are always on high beam.

I have a Rigid 10" E Series spotlight LED light bar installed on my front bumper. It's crazy how bright the thing gets. Here's a quick video I made but it doesn't do the light justice. It projects super far.

Do they, or anybody else make a good LED light bar with handlebar mount? and can you run it with a light in the stock housing as well? I already have the pmxtec upgrade but want handle bar mounted too.

Running both my cause the charging system to not be able to keep up and charge the battery. Besides, the stock bulb is SOOOO bad, anything else would overpower it.

There are getting to be a lot of LED companies out there with many different mounting options. A couple of good Google searches should net you the info you are looking for.

I originally had the light mounted on my handle bars but after one ride the bracket snapped. Which is why I ended up installing on the bumper as there won't be any flex in the bracket when the bike is going every which way. You can see more info on the subject here

Use the BajaDesigns bracket, I believe it was the -2.5" drop, may want to call them to make sure. They are very sturdy!

I was doing some more research on LED's, Rigid Industries really has some nice light bars!

I was thinking of maybe getting 2 of these http://www.rigidindustries.com/Dually-2x2-...p/duallyled.htm

Maybe mounting them down by the factory headlight like screenlookr has his...

1300 Lumens per light is pretty damn good, just curious as to how far the throw of light is.

Another choice is phantom-lighting.com they have some pretty good prices and alot of different sizes, I'm actually thinking of picking something up for the truck.
