    Rear Shock upper relocate

just checking to see what your thoughts are on a rear shock relocate it would be the upper shock mount
I am working with Wayne at PEP on this.
You would have to use a SX swing arm if you want to do your XC It will be a bolt on app.

Just wondering what gains we'll see from this?

Will it use a stock length shock, and maintain the current ride height?

I am not sure of the shock lenght but it will help with the problem with the shock bottoming out at the end of the stroke and if I can move it up far enough I can get a longer shock on that makes for better tuning.

I just made a lower mount to move the shock down and forward on the swingarm. It made for alot better ratio, and the stock shock is now actually working. I am going to remove the swingarm and machine and tig in a real mount next week.

The shock responds alot better now! I am going to build 2 more location mounts before I bore through the swingarm and do a true mount. This is the farthest I could go without hitting the reservoir on the exhaust, at full extension, and still be able to tig in a solid mount.

The mounting location in x-stream post ,wouldn't that be about the same location point on a Ktm XC swing arm?

Might as well add a linkage lol! Looks good though. I wonder how that mount location compares to a walsh swingarm or xc swingarm? If you want to go further with your shock you could relocate your battery to the front of the bike and flip your shock so that the reservoir clearing the exhaust isn't an issue.

slightly lower and further forward than the XC. Looks kinda like the Walsh setup, that got a bit of ragging from some here as being to aggresive leverage ratio wise on the shock, but if it works it works right.

I had always wondered if the KTM shock had to much angle - laydown on it, bit like the Raptor 660 layout........... but no linkage

keep us up to speed on what ya find / how it progresses !

I reckon a linkage would be easy to do.............

yes a linkage would be great but it has to bolt to the frame per AMA rules and is the upper shock location in the right spot ? It will be easer to relocate the top mount As of know talking to SF racing Wayne is having a hard time getting springs for the Walsh set up

Does the xc swing arm have to much leverage in general, even with the right shock?
Also could a swing arm not be made with the correct shock mount location so you would not need to relocate the top mount?
I've heard of swingarms built for the sx with adjustable shock mount locations "but used for flat track". Could this not work or would it not provide a desirable leverage ratio?

^^^ because the xc swingarm takes a longer shock, the ohlins ttx shock won't fit the sx swinger.
