    Question Fuel Customs intake

Just purchased a 505 SX and I am new to this forum (very impressed with the info in here). I noticed some ATV's in the gallery with the Fuel Customs intake. Is it worth the $300 and would I need to re-jet? Thanks

not to start a war... alot of people like them, they add power, alot of people do not like them because they think it lets more fine dirt inside the motor. I for one am not taking any chances and have not really researched much more about them after alot of guys said they thought they let more dirt inside. Like i said a lot of guys like them though.

Ive ran K&N type air filters with outerwares for years and have never had a priblem with dirt getting by. Ive been very happy with my FCI and given the chance would do it again.

I've heard the same debate but I had a K&N filter on my dirtbike with no issues. So if I go with the FCI do I need to re-jet? I appreciate the info.

Yes,re jet for sure..Typically you would need to go up 5 points on the main jet as a good baseline..

Ok so I need to bump the MJ to a 180 (175 is stock) and I have read that I should also go to a larger PJ - 45.

You can try..I was running a 40PJ and 180Main with a Full exhaust and fci intake and AFR's were around 13-13.5 and the engine was on point.Put it on a dyno,if you want to fine tune it.

that seams like a very big main jet for the HRC needle.... I've dyno jetted 3 different ktm's with the hrc needle and all have been in the 160-170 range. 3rd or 4th clip down.... Going from fci to stock intake didn't change afr much at all. Any combination of pipes, intakes, heads...ect I've tried has fell in the 160-170 range with the HRC needle (most around 160, 170 was a very safe 12:1 AFR). These were check with a afr meter installed in the head pipe (very important to test with bung in head pipe and not just a sniffer shoved down the exhaust).

For those looking to buy new, there's a guy on ebay selling them for $289.99 or best offer. I offered $240 shipped and he took it. So offer less and see what he takes.

Well, got mine, doesn't fit on my 525xc, did they even test fit these before they started selling them? I cant even get the rubber boot on because it hits the frame. Another over priced bad fitting product.

Plenty on here that have gotten theirs to fit fine. As with aftermarket parts, if people expect to bolt things up and be perfect they are in for a frustrating time. You will probably have to turn the intake boot to get it angled right.
