heres some pics of my conversion build, still have lots of work to do, the mounts are soo close lol, these pics are without the sprocket lined up,once i get the sprocket i will have a better idea what needs to be done with the mounts.

Very nice start! It is surprising how close those mounts are. Almost frustrates a guy that they're that close yet so far.

nice!!! bring back the 2 strokes! make sure you make the frame stronger were you mount the cylinder head. the tube in the top of the frame is to weak and will break begose of the vibration from a 2 stroke. look for my pics at 380cc thread.
the honda engine fits better then the ktm 380. the mounts are amazing close! good luck with your built! i will follow it with great interest.

thanks martijnvdveen, i had this idea for a couple years now and after seeing and hearing that 2 stroke sound on your you tube videos its got me pretty excitied , i was thinking bout using the same mounts style mounts as yours on the front but billit aluminum, im not gonna go with a top mount because ive had the crank balanced by surf and turf racing, and should almost elminate the vibration, im really intersested in your kick start, do you have any up close pics of it??

This was always a dream of mine. Just so you are aware, I know someone who did this and the handlebars vibrate like you wouldn't believe with the 500 motor. This is also common on quads with a 250R frame and a cr500 motor swap. I am not really sure how you combat it, just something to look into (if you have not done so already). This is going to be an awesome quad when you are done, can't wait to see some video of this thing! If you don't mind us asking, let us know what you have into it as well. There are several people who would like to do this, we just need to know the cost before we dive head first.

Possibly run urethane upper motor mounts to put a damper on the vibration from the cylinder? cant really rubber mount everything or you could have issues with your chain and sprocket ETC.

    just a thought.

JDU450XC--ive had the crank balanced to hopefully get rid of te notorious vibes this engine has been known for Crank Balancing as for all the pricing and mods i will make a detailed list/pics throughout the build, the engine still has lots of work to be done,im hoping to have the permenent mounting done in a couple weeks then i can take the engine back out to finsih building it

desert2007--im not gonna be mounting the head, ive been warned by a member on cr500riders.com who has done this build already, he says it just makes the vibes worse,he also mentioned that if exhaust is not perfect then it will also cause bad vibes, one other interesting thing he said was it did 154 kph in 4th gear on the dyno

front mounts look a lil ugly, once i know this build is gonna work properly im gonna get some billet mounts made, pretty sure im not gonna be able to use a carb into the stock location but ive be doing some research and theres a good posiblity this could end up being fuel injected

some of the fastest 2 stroke quads ive seen (highly built banshees, some 3 cylinder snowmobile engine'd ones aswell) were FI and even seen a turbo charged one or two around. They are absolute MONSTERS. Like rip arms from sockets fast.

Where did yuo get the engine from? My Brother in-law put a cr500 in a lt250r frame 15 yrs ago ,we saw it for sale near you not long ago. When you rode that quad, it vibrated so bad you couldnt feel your arms or feet when you were riding. It sounds like you are doing it the right way though, good luck! Out of curiousity what happened to your sx engine?
