    Zbra's SLow ANd STeady BUild

Okay so I've had this quad for a little more than a year now and its been great... pretty much stock besides sx arms, wp's up front and DasaPovic exhaust. Gonna start racing next year so figured Id tear it down and rebuild it. Never done this before on any quad so thats why making this thread just incase I have a few questions you guys can help me out.

Now heres what were starting with:

What are your plans? I'm figuring I'll need a rebuild this winter so I've started planning already.

I won c class a few races in my area last year with a stock xc motor minus an 8/06 cam, ranchero's carb mods and heavier valve springs left in from the previous owners cam. It was my first year this year, and i will be moving to b class next season with an sx. granted it is finally running right by then. if you replace ball joints put grease zerks in them. practice on the old ones first though. and i would get a high flow water pump on it. the dwt rims make the xc a little wider (about 1/2 in.) in the rear than hipers do with the stock xc axle.

If you are going to powder coat the frame you might as well gusset it. Tiexeria Tech has a kit that is priced right. His steering stem flag is also a nice upgrade, it really reduces the bump steer.

I run his flag with SX arms and it helped a lot. The bump steer was reduced by at least half. Can you race with the stock one? Sure, I did for a long time. It just might be something you put on the wish list. As far as the gussets, I think the Tiexeria Tech kit is good and a much better price. Ed puts a lot of work in his parts.

Ed makes nice stuff and has been good to deal with. The flag works with any a-arm set up.

Is there steering stem flag just longer than the stock one? or how does it benefit to reduce bump steer?

Forgot to get the comparison pictures for you, sorry. I will get them next time I head over to the shop.
    Day 2:

Got it all stripped down waiting to bring it to my welder so he can put the gussett kit on

Stupid question but is this contraption supposed to stay on?

And last, I guess this is what happens when you crash on a 75ft double hahahaha

And this is what happens when you have a 4 year old Honda thats was never maintained properly! New owner, my friend is tearing it down with me to bring this thing back to life. It took a 250lb person standing on a 3 ft pipe wrench to get the axle nut to spin, another to stand on a 4ft pipe wrench to keep the axle from spinning, a LOT of wd40, and then me on top to steady the quad hahahaah. And dont even get me started on how the swingarm bolt wont come loose.

    Me on the 450r

Look for some PB blaster at a hardware store. Walmart has it too, or at least some do. we no longer own any wd-40 and neither do our neighbors or anyone else that has used it that we know. amazing stuff.

Okay so I have a few updates since I havent posted in this thread for awhile.

First I sent my rear shock out to Rocket Ron for a dual rate rear shock, should be getting it back soon.
Got my frame gussetted with the Texiera Tech kit.
And Ordered my a-arms from KtmBill, which should be here one of these days.

Cleaned my motor getting it ready to be sent out for some work. Found a miracle solution that brings it almsot back to new!
